SUGAR IS TOXIC! Scientists are now confirming what we have been preaching all along! New reports also suggest that excess sugars in our diet are linked to heart disease. Sugar not only leads to obesity, but also to Type 2 diabetes and also hypertension. Sugar falls into the same category as alcohol and tobacco which are regulated and have warnings on their labels. Too much sugar and the liver gets overloaded with fructose and starts to convert it into fat. This gets into the bloodstream and creates LDL (the bad stuff). In the '70s the government mandated we lower our fat intake, but processed foods without fat taste like cardboard. So they replaced the fat with sugar. Now we have more heart disease, metabolic syndrome, diabetes and more death! Research is showing that cancer tumors love sugar and that it stimulates their growth. Sugar feeds tumors. Period.
The sugar industry states that emphasis should be on long term reduction of calories, diet and exercise. Well...at least we agree on something.
More news on wheat. CBS news calls wheat a "perfect, chronic poison". Wheat is not what your grandmother used to cook with. It's an 18-inch tall plant created by genetic research in the'60x and '70s.
According to aurthor and cardiologist Dr William Davis, it is not gluten. There's a new protein in this plant called "Gliadin". It is an opiate and it binds into the opiate receptors in the brain and in most people stimulates appetite, so much that we consume 440 more calories per day, everyday of the year.
The farming industry could change back to the grain it formerly produced, but it would not be economically feasible because it yields less per acre. People are turning away from wheat and dropping substantial weight.
Our next issue of Professor's Daily Essentials will feature more details about this subject.

We have been told our whole lives that whole wheat grains are good for us, that they are heart healthy and necessary to our diet in order to be slim and satisfied. What I have been saying for years is just the opposite and now it has been studied and proven that wheat products are more responsible for our appetite stimulation, our rise in blood sugar and the release of chemicals in our brain that get us hooked on breads, pastas and crackers. Increasing consumption of wheat products in our diet can also be linked to higher incidences of Celiac disease, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis and schizophrenia.
We aren't talking about your grandmother's wheat. Over the past 50 years wheat grain has been hybridized and crossbred to be drought and fungi resistant, produce higher yields per acre, result in better baking consistency, and cost less to produce. The increase in wheat in the American diet parallels obesity rates that have nearly tripled since 1960.
Bread breeds belly fat...when eaten by itself, it spikes blood sugar more than candy bars and soda. Don't be fooled, it is not the only food that will add to belly fat, but this is an interesting fact and can't be ignored if we want to gain good health and lose the undesirable, disease causing viseral fat.
It may be insulin resistance-not the lack of willpower that's sabotaging your weight loss goals. Wheat stimulates your appetite so you want more of it and when you stop eating it, your body goes through withdrawal symptoms. In fact, wheat's effect on the brain is similar to that of opiate drugs. Take the wheat out of your diet and see if you have an incredible turnaround in energy and sleep quality. You'll do away with the blood sugar swings and energy slumps if you opt for veggies, fruits and nuts intead of processed, wheat based foods.
Gluten-free foods are not the answer becfause many of these foods are made by replacing wheat flour with corn starch, rice starch, potato starch, or tapioca starch which will hike up your blood sugar even more than wheat. These products may not trigger the brain response like gluten does, but still triggers the glucose-insulin response that packs on pounds.
If you are interested in losing weight, feeling better and improving your overall health, there are healthy options - wheat free, low sugar, low carb foods that won't spike your blood sugar. We can introduce you to a way of life that will not only help you lose those unwanted pounds, but give you a quality of lilfe you've been longing for. Call us and schedule your appointment today!
